All terrain VS mud terrain
I'm wanting to put some 285/75/18 tires on my 2014 F-150. A couple of guys at Discount Tire told me to go with all terrains because mud terrain are a really rough ride and only last 15-20k miles. I've only ever had all terrain tires. Does anybody have any experience with mud terrain??

Big Blue Flame!!!
Your limited in that size, I just ordered Toyo ATII Extreme in that Size, I'm combined off-road and pavement and want a tire that will last longer than a MT. But if you must want MTs go with Toyos!!!

Better 2B lucky than good
They're full of it. Any modern mud tire should see at least 40,000 with proper care and rotation.
Swamper Boggers should see 15-20,000 under road use...and they're lumpy old bias plies.

I have never used mud terrains but have always understood mileage is less than an all terrain and they are incredibly noisy. If It were me the top tires I would ever buy are the Michelin all terrain all though it's not very aggressive the nitto terra grappler or the bfg at2 all three of these are all terrains but personally if your not muddin all the time I feel an all terrain is the best bet. As far as mud tires go I have always heard great things about the bfg mud terrain but, I have not researched mud tires in a while. I researched the all terrains last year when I bought a new set.

My experience has always been that the MT's won't last as long as the AT's. They may only be a 5-10k difference in mileage sometimes, but that's been the case for me. You will also notice the MT's being rougher/louder vs the AT's, as the miles add up on them.

I have always bought BFG All-Terrain tires for my trucks. I have never gotten any less that 60K on a set. I'll never buy anything else. BFG-AT KO2 load range E (cause I tow a lot).
