Default Airbag Light

So a few weeks ago my friend and I tried to install some Gibson headers on my 2010 5.4. Needless to say we were unable to do it. In the instructions it said disconnect the steering shaft. So we did, and my wheel did not lock. So to find the center point we rotated all the way one way and found the middle. Done. So we get the truck back together and my airbag light is on, denoting that the airbag had been deployed. WTF. I thought I just tripped a sensor. So I had my friend's uncle who works for an exhaust shop put them on, and he said the clockspring in my steering wheel broke when we turned the wheel all the way one way, which is what set off the airbag. Can anyone shed some light on this? I'd like to add that the light goes on and stays on when I turn the truck on; it does not blink or anything like that. I also scanned for codes with my Edge Evolution and it turned up blank.
