Default air shocks?

since heavier duty leaf springs make the ride a bit rougher, would air shocks help smooth the ride out?

Adding air shocks to a truck that already had heavy duty springs isn't going to help at all. But if your going to add AIR BAGS (like firestone) instead of heavy springs then yes, it will keep the same ride. You can let the air way down and you wont even know they are there.

I looked into air shocks before I bought my air bags and couldn't find anyone that listed a part number for my truck so I'm not sure they even make them. With that said.......air isn't really soft. You're not going to take the stiffness out of springs with air. (not sure if that makes sense, but hopefully you understand what I'm saying)
