Default Air filter

I bought my 2012 F150 and took a good look at the engine and everything looked good. It had a ford dealership oil change before I picked it up. They said they checked everything including the air filter. Now I just checked it today and it's been a couple weeks. Either my truck is getting the filter dirty fast or they didn't ever check it. Maybe the old owner never did either. Now I'm worried not enough clean air was getting to the engine for however long it's been. The picture shows it compared with a new one. Should I worry about it or let it go? Thanks

its very unlikely that it'll ever cause any damage other than perhaps fouling the MAF sensor. poor quality air just leads to poor quality combustion which means worse fuel economy. you can get some MAF sensor cleaner and clean it off if you're worried about it.

Not much you can do now. No need to worry. Enjoy the new filter

If it didn't throw a code you should be good as long as you throw the clean one in there

The dealership gave my recent vehicle purchase the "yeah, whatever" inspection. Lots of checks on the detail sheet. I got a new filter but the box below was full of dirt. *****es were chewed.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a K&N air filter and some improved mileage.

Generally speaking, the dirtier an air filter gets, the better it cleans. It will eventually get too dirty and cause a restriction. This is the point at which power and fuel economy drop off. But a dirty filter is not going to damage the engine. Just make sure it is replaced with a good quality filter.

How did the oil look? Does the oil filter look new?
I'd probably question everything they said the did, just to be on the safe side.
Then drive on........
