Default Adding Tailgate Step

Not sure if its been covered or someone has done, trying looking it up but couldn't find it so far. Anyways I am looking if possible try to install the "assist step" on the tail gate door. Is this possible to add it by just purchasing the right parts or is this something that I have to purchase the entire tailgate door?
