Default Abs light

Hi,

I left my 2009 F150 Platinum sitting in an AIRPORT park and fly for 4 days. No lights were lit up on the dash before I left. When I arrived back from my trip, (to my dismay) I turned over the ignition and the ABS light came on and the skid traction control was enabled on the dash. I tried pumping the brake a bit and pressing the traction control button to turn it off but nothing happened and the lights remained on. I live in Ontario, Canada and there is lots of Snow / Ice on the roads. Did ice or perhaps salt get stuck some where to cause the ABS sensor / Traction control to be permanently ON? I have driven my truck now for about 100 km on clear roads and the sensor lights are still on.

I'm taking my truck to the dealer on Monday. I am just wondering if anyone else has had the ABS LIGHT ON / TRACTION CONTROL Enabled issue after letting their truck sit for a couple days in cold / snowy weather? Is there some way to turn of the ABS Light and disengage the Traction control?

Hmm, weird scenario. Hopefully somebody didn't steal an abs sensor or mess with your truck while it was parked.

The traction control light is on because it relies on the abs sensors to tell it what to do, if your light is in for the TCS, it means its disabled. It is automatically on an must be manually turned off.

Has the weather there been warm enough to melt everything from the undercarriage of the truck? If not do you have access to a heated garage or something similar?

Hopefully it is just ice build up on a sensor.

I wish you the best of luck!

Same thing happened to me today. Truck was fine this morning, but when I started it up lunchtime the ABS light was on as well as the traction control indicator.

JFW - What did your dealer say about the problem

Hey XLTed,

The dealer told me the problem was coming from the ABS sensor in the Right rear wheel. They said it had to be ordered from the US and it had to be replaced. They said it would be about 3 days for it to come in. So far I am still waiting. Everything they said was replaceable under warranty.

I will let you know how the fix goes after the dealership calls me to install the new sensor.

Thx,

Had mine at the dealer this morning. Work order states that the "right rear speed sensor" was replaced, and the TC problem was related to the sensor failure. All is good now.
