Default 92 F150 A/C is kicking my butt!

I have a 92 F150, 5.0. a/c was already retrofitted. Pressures pefect, wont cycle, period. Voltage drop when I do turn the air on though.

On that year system there is only one switch that controls cycling and it's screwed on the accumulator. Are you saying it runs constantly or not at all? What are your pressure readings?

Truck is at home, so I can't run out and hook it up again, but I do they were good. It's just runs constant, doesn't cycle at all.

I've thought about just replacing the switch to see if that does anything at all.

If the system is cooling like it should I would need to know the low/high side pressures before recommending changing the cycling switch, those switches are adjustable by the way. Depending on ambient temps it may not cycle, specially as hot as it's been this summer.

When I got the truck it didn't work, and it's hot as hell in Texas right now. I evac it. Held a vacuum perfectly. -28 for about 20 minutes. Refilled it. Nothing. I thought it was just low. When I unplug the switch it's stops the clutch, plug it in, it works again. So I know the plug is sending a signal. Makes me wonder if there is a restriction in it.

I be honest, I get out working on it, and it's so damn hot, I forget what's the numbers are.

One of my areas of expertise is automotive a/c, been wrenching over 35 years now, I can help but the first thing I need to know is high and low side pressures.

When you get a chance send me a pm with the information or a reminder to check back in this thread.
