On a SCREW, 5.5 for me. The 6.5 is just longer than I want for maneuverability. If we were talking about an 8' bed vs 5.5 the 2.5' of extra bed might come in useful. I've never ran into a problem carrying anything in a 5.5' bed where an extra 1' would help. With the tailgate down you have almost 8' and a bed extender is only about $250 if you feel the need. Anything I can't carry in my truck will easily fit in the 10' utility trailer.

I have a SCREW with the 6.5 bed and I prefer it. I can haul more stuff with the tailgate up.

That or I just park farther out and double park length wise.

Wow, you would get towed in the time it took you to buy groceries around here if you double parked lengthwise.

The real answer to this question is to get an SCab with an 8 foot bed, i.e. a truck. Oh, you wanted a man-i-van instead. Nevermind.

If the choice is 1 1/2' of bed space or comfort for 5 (or 6), I chose passenger comfort. So do the VAST majority of buyers.

Found the salty person who thinks a truck isn't a truck without an eight foot bed.

I miss my 1997 F-350 4 door long bed... I really wanted a extended cab with long bed when I was shopping for F-150's, but wife whined for a 4 door and I'm stuck with a 6.5.

The only time I've ever wanted a longer bed is when trying to haul the ATV. So I say it depends on what you do with the truck.

I park at the far edge of the lot. I dare them to tow me. It's their fault for not having spaces that are long enough. A supercrew with 6 1/2ft bed is longer than most parking spaces.

Looks wise, I think the 5.5 is the better looking box. As for hauling, I haul a riding lawnmower around in the back of my 5.5 every once in a while and it's not a huge problem. I have to keep my tailgate down and triple check that the straps are secure and tight. I think there was one other time that we bought something from Home Depot and I had to leave the tailgate down but can't remember what it was.

For me, unless you're hauling a lot of payload and bit items, the 5.5 just looks better and is what I would go for.

All things being equal, I'd get the 6.5'.

I like the look of the SCREW with the 6.5' bed more than my 5.5' bed, but based on the lot or garage that I need to park at for work, that extra foot would be a killer. I am tight as it is.

I'm fine with the 5.5' bed, as I haven't come across anything that I couldn't carry that I needed to, but if there were no restrictions on parking it everyday, I would have looked harder for a 6.5'.
