Both trucks stock and I was on the gas in his truck, it was not skipping gears. Honestly it was not close. The 2.7 came out nice but laid down after about 60 or so as compared to my 5.0. Im used to turbos, and the ones on the 2.7 don't flow too much cfm. You can feel it. Its made to make power down low and it quickly runs out of air as the rpms build. The turbos must be really small.

Depends,...
As others noted on the maintenance but also how it's maintained appearance wise.
In the short-term and the truck being new, you're covered via warranty mostly.
And one consistent positive of our trucks (15 Lariat SuperCrew here) being grossly overpriced, they hold value well into 60-70K odometer range.
IOWs, you have until about 55K to decide if you want to change course and even if you do, it shouldn't be that expensive to your current truck's price, for you've already paid/ing top $$ with your current truck to be in the Game and if it's in decent condition it's worth a good $$ if you sell it or trade it a few years from now.
I own a V8 but there's +s and -s regardless of which one you own.

I own a 2015 2.7 EB and a 18 Raptor. My last truck was a 3.5 EB. I can tell you no other truck with a V8 has beaten any of the 3. EB's are very reliable,if not Ford would not put them in the majority of F150's.

There's a good question. About a month ago I saw an article that Chevy is coming out with four new engines, all will be smaller displacement and at least two will be turbocharged. I guess they're trying to play catch-up. Ford has just about turbocharged everything.
