Default 4x4 stopped working

Hi Folks,

Hoping someone here might be able to shed a bit of light on my issue with the 4x4.
IO have a 2005 5.4L Triton XLT that suddenly stopped working in 4x4. No lights on and when I switch to 4H or 4L, no lights coming on the dash.
I checked the fuses, all good. Checked the relays and when the selector switch is turned between 4H, 4L and 2wd, the relays are "clicking"
Changed out the Solenoid for a new one but no difference, there is vacuum at the Solenoid but there is no audible sound or feel of it clicking. I has watched in a video where this was a way to check the Solenoid to see if it is working. The new Solenoid I got was from Amazon so not 100% sure it is any good so will get one from the local Napa shop tomorrow to try.
Is there anything else it could be other than the Solenoid or is it possibly the Transfer case shift motor?
I am at a loss and a typical visit to a shop around here means $500 so trying to avoid that if I can!
Thanks for your help!
Tim

The 4X4 system has no way of sensing if the vacuum solenoid pulled in and sent vacuum to the IWE to lock the hubs to the front axels. The switch causes the 4wd changeover motor in the transfer case to switch from rear to both, once it switches it light the dash. So you need to look at that.

Is it actually shifting? The TCCM, Transfer Case Control Module, could be the trouble. Have no idea $$$$ or if you could have it reflashed on your vintage.

Have you checked for any codes? Sometimes you don't get a MIL.

ordered a new shift motor today and will be installing it Wednesday or Thursday, hopefully this will resolve the issue!

Yes, no codes. I just ordered a new shift motor and will be installing that on the transfer case in a few days. Hopefully this is the fix!

Thanks for the info David
Still haven't found the issue with my 2005 F150 4x4
just checked the resistance on my 4wd selector switch on the dashboard.
I am getting the following readings with multimeter set at 20k
2H: 0.61
4H: 0.26
4L: 0.12
The only info I have been able to find is from a 2001 on a video at A1 Auto and according to this, the resistance on the switch is as follows: 3.90 for 2H, 1.1 for 4H and 0.360 for 4L
Do you know what the readings should be on my 2005 or does it look like the switch is shot?
I swapped out the shift motor, vacuum solenoid and checked all fuses, jacked it up, took off a wheel, checked vacuum and got it there in 2h.
With the engine off, the shaft is turning and with it on, the wheel is free so I assume the vacuum is working as it should at the wheels (note, I am not a mechanic and still learning)
the only thing I can figure is the switch.

no codes, replaced shift motor. Getting what I believe is very low resistance on the switch copared to what I have been able to find so far but cannot find the actual readings for a 2005, only a 2001
