4x4 not engaging

Default 4x4 not engaging

2010 f150 12000km, was stored 3 monthes out in snow and cold. i put in 4x4 , wheels spin then sounds like front wheels engage,big noise, I take to ford . my fault no gaurantee!!
$2400 damage! what do I do?

drive shaft exploded, stripped transfer-case,punctured catalytic converter,etc..

is it the turn dial 4x4 selector or the manual selector?if its the dial it could be a bad motor that engages the hubs.It could be the vacuum switches in the engine compartment on the passenger side,with ours it was the one that kept it in 2 wheel drive that was gone, vented vacuum so 4x4 would not pull in.

thats exactly what I told ford.Their response. No coverage, get a lawyer if you want.
