4 wheel drive problem...
whats up this is my first post, but aaa i have a problem with my truck. Its an 03 F150 FX4 extended cab with the 5.4 triton. well when i turn my 4 wheel drive **** to 4hi it clicks, but the 4 wheel drive wont engage. ehres the weird part. ill stop put it in neutral, then put it in 4Low and SOMEtimes itll go into 4 low, and Sometimes when i click it from 4lo to 4hi itll click into 4 hi after i put it in drive and it clanks into 4wd. i get it into 4 hi about 1 out of 30 tries playin with the switch. but when i finally do get it into 4wd itll pop out by itself after awhile usually when i hit a bump or when the abs kicks in when im drivin in the snow. any ideas wth is wrong with it? i kinda need it we have like 10 inches of snow on the ground and i gott adrive 45 miles to work
well i looked up hubs on advance auto, 183 bucks a piece...good thing i work there ahaha...well seasonal n e way., and if its my transfer case motor they are only 115 bucks, so far so good..lol

You some times need to back up a little but usually an inch or so and the shift fork will dissengage. my truck was shifting intermittently and it was the shift fork. some get a little rusty some bend and some break. it sounds like to me like the same problem I had. (2003 supercrew) the shift fork had to be replaced. if you dont use the 4x4 regularly you should just sit in the driveway and once or twice a week shift in and out 4hi 4lo and back out. that way every thing keeps from sticking.
you should take the vacume lines off the iwe's silinoid and put a vacume tester on it it should hold vacume if it does you need to replace the silinoid if it doesent you will need to replace the iwe they are behind you wheel bearing on the shaft you can check them by puting vacume to them if it leacks that is your bad one you may also have to replace the wheel bearing to that is what i would tri .that is what was wrong with mine i have a 05 . the iwe silinoid is on the fire wall on the right side
