Default 3rd Brake Light Removal

I did a quick search on this but couldn't find anything for the newer models. I have a 2013 XLT SCrew and I went to go change the bulbs in the 3rd brake light yesterday and it just refused to come out. I pulled both the screws out and tried moving it and got nothing. I finally went and got a panel removal tool and started lightly prying on it when the plastic cover snapped a piece off. From everything I've seen and read, it looks like this should just pull out with a little coaxing, but this one refuses to.

Any suggestions?

It almost looks like the gasket around the light housing is glued to the body of the truck. Which doesn't seem right.

I have a '14 and mine is on there pretty good. I have to use something for leverage, I can't just pull. That just sounds crazy though

Excerpted from the 2013 F150 owner's manual ...
BTW ... The gasket may stick ... Just gently pry the housing away from the cab.

(owner's manual) Don't have one -OR- would like a digital, searchable desktop document?

I tried the gentle pry, but because of the size of the lens on the housing that's all you can get is the lens. So it ended up cracking it. New one has already shipped so I'll get to see how bad it is once that shows up.

This has happened to me although I was able to get it off undamaged after a few minutes of cursing. Next time use a blow dryer to heat up the seal first. Also use a nylon pry bar instead of a flathead screwdriver.
