33s" or 35s"
Hey guys, I have an 02' F150 Screw 4x4 5.4L. I'm getting new tires in the next month and was wondering what to get. The trucks stock for the most part except for the Leveling kit and BDS shocks all around. I know the 35s will fit because I tired it already and a little bit of triming will be needed. But with the stock gears and 5.4L some say that my truck will have a hard time turning the the 35s. And will their be a big differnce in gas milage between the 33s and 35s? If anyone has pics with their trucks with 33s or 35s please attach.

The 35s will lower engine rpm at any given speed by ~16%, so your speedo and odo will be off by that much. Acceleration performance will be reduced somewhat, but not enough to get you upset...just stay in the lower gears a little longer. Fuel mileage may improve a little if you keep your foot out of it.

What gears do you have? Are they 3.55s? I would think if it's a Screw with the 5.4L you'd have the 3.73s, but I've seen some weirdly equiped 150s.
Looks, I prefer the 35s. And the cost difference between 33s & 35s isn't that great. So personally I'd opt for the 35s if it was my decision.

I don't know what gears I have. I would like to find out though. i'm thinking 3.55 or 3.73 too. I have a friend that has the same truck but XLT and he says he has 4.10 from factory. I don't believe him. I think I'm just gonna go with the 35s
If your axle code is two numbers you do not have Limited Slip (i.e. - 35, 29, etc). If your axle code is a letter then a number you have Limited Slip (i.e. H5, B9, etc). So the first digit basically tells you if you have LS or not. The second digit tells you what ratio you have.
If the 2nd digit is a 7 then you have 3.31.
If the 2nd digit is a 9 then you have 3.55.
If the 2nd digit is a 6 then you have 3.73.
If the 2nd digit is a 5 then you have 4.10.
Your friend more than likely does not have stock 4.10. The 4.10 only came in 7700 Heavy Duty payload package, which is only offerred in Rcab Long Bed form if memory serves me correctly. The Scabs have most commonly come with 3.55s and Screws with 3.73s, but like said before, I have seen some Scabs with 3.73s and Screws with 3.55s, but those are few and far between.
Hope this helps.
