Default 2023 King Ranch Issues

First post, thanks for allowing me to join!!

2023 King Ranch with 6000 miles on the clock. I obviously don’t drive the truck much because I absolutely hate the way the transmission feels. I’ve had it in the shop twice now for what feels like a surge while under slight throttle. It feels like a misbalanced tire but coming from the transmission. The service department admitted they can feel exactly what I am feeling and performed several tests to rule everything out. They admitted that they can feel what I am describing but have no fix. They told me that is a driving characteristic of the truck and that I am just going to have to deal with it! I saw there was a TSB on earlier F150’s for what sounds like the same issue, but ended on 2022 models. Anyone else experiencing this feeling in your 2023 or later??

Next issue is my headlights turn on and off while parked. I haven’t moved the truck in over a week but noticed last evening the head and taillights came on for a few seconds and then went back off. WTH??

Third issue my gauges revert back to original when they feel like it. I have the turbo gauge set but now and then it reverts back to the factory settings.

Fourth issue, I cannot use the steering wheel buttons to search my preset SiriusXM channels in both directions. I can only move in one direction.

Fifth issue, every now and then, my seat and mirror presets will not go back to how I have them set.

Does all this stuff have a common denominator?

I spent a ****load of money on this thing and expected better!

Sorry to hear you're having issues. I have the same vehicle, and so far no problems.

Headlights: Could it be you walked near your truck with the keys in your pocket? I know mine will come to life if I walk near it, even if I don't touch it.

Gauges: That's happened to me twice. I don't know if a software update reset them, or if my wife did it. We both drive it, and sometimes I'll get in it and realize things are wonky. Different settings, weird displays. Technology and her don't always get along. But one time I'm almost certain a software update changed things.

No, the key fobs were no where near the truck when the lights came on and nobody else was around it at that time.

All the other setting issues have happened numerous times. I’ll check with the dealer and see what they recommend. I just wanted to see if these issues sounded familiar to anyone else here right quick before I went to them.

Thanks for the reply!

Run a ground wire from a metal part of the motor to the negative post of the battery as well to the firewall. I have noted that some systems loose their saved settings if the battery gets too low. Turning the key when it is really low is almost the equivalent of shorting the battery to ground as all available current goes to the starter and nothing left to maintain the settings.

Also a number of vehicles that get left idle for extended periods can have a battery drain problem if using the electric locks to lock the vehicle, particularly in cold weather. And this problem is very hard to detect because it doesn't show up except when unlocked. Problem is that the door solenoids don't fully set and so remain energized. Try locking the doors by using the driver door rocker switch lock setting for four or five times in succession without using the unlock. Give it four or five electric jolts in quick succession and see if the end result is better. It should drive all the solenoids locking mechanisms home and cut of battery drain. Just Saying!

If you are totally stumped on the surge problem and are stuck for something to try then I would check the operation ie: movement of the butterfly in the throttle body. Just a guess but it seems to me that any irregularity to the surface of the gears that operate the butterfly could possibly cause this effect - like supposing the butterfly were to have a sticking point when opening up. There may be a surge of air into the intake that would cause a slight surge till it settled down to proper settings. Just Saying.

I'd bet a couple bucks that your electrical issues are because your battery is low.

There may be a problem with saving profiles. Try resetting all settings and re-program your preferences.
