Default 2018 5.0L oil change surprise

Anyone else notice the plastic injection oil pan and plastic oil plug? Did the 2015-17 have this crap?

To the members that have been here a bit longer this is no surprise and has been debated back and forth for quite awhile.

I didn't like that style drain plug so I swapped it for the one that takes a 3/8" drive ratchet to remove.

I like that better. As long as you don’t over torque it and strip the thread. Disregard lol I didn’t see the stops on the plug to keep from passing the 1/4 turn

I feel like you could be off road and a decent size log flips up from rolling over it and smacks that plastic oil pan and cracks it

Possibly, but I have heard they are just as strong as the metal pans. I just weirds people out when they are used to seeing metal pans.

24,000 miles on my plastic pan.

Remember, there have been plastic-type valve covers for almost 20 years now, without evidence of them failing. If I notice cracks in my plastic pan, I'll warranty it or replace it with metal. til then I kinda like the drain plug. Can't bugger up threads with it like googans can by overtightening bolts.

True, that's why I have a Fumoto waiting for the next oil change.
