Default 2017 3.5 EB engine issue

I am still new to this forum. You will see in another thread I just picked up a new 17 EB with 10 speed on fathers day. sadly after 1300km (Canada) its in the shop and I am diving a loaner from dealer. They say its the high pressure fuel pump and its on back order. anyone else have this issue? I found it odd the check engine light never came on. I was told that the high pressure fuel pump was delivering very high fuel pressure. it was over 1000psi (cant recall the exact number) but it should only deliver 400psi? anyway now I am stuck with my truck in the shop. spoke to ford Canada and they are trying to expedite the part. I am concerned that the it could have cause more damage or is not the root cause.

has anyone else had any issues with the 17EB 3.5. I went form my 2010 5.4. I was always skeptical of the EB. no replacement for displacement type of guy. now here I am.

I don't know what's going on with mine yet but I have the same set up as your and mine currently won't start. It is 2 wks old and just went over a thousand miles. What is/are your symptoms? I think mine has something to do with the fuel system. The computer shows 33miles left til empty and truck is on an incline, nose down. Could be the pump not picking up fuel since it did start, ran a few seconds then died. I planned on put it in neutral, roll down the driveway to a level spot and try to start this morning. F...up. Only. Roll. Downhill

A fuel pump is not an engine issue.

Diagnosed your own problem. I'd be embarrassed to admit I let it run out of gas. You're not doing it any favors.

33 miles to empty isn't exactly ran out of gas. It has already been shown at least 1.5-2 gal left when it shows zero to empty. I came back from a fishing trip yesterday and I was so tired and hungry I didn't stop for gas, just want to get home grab a bite and take a nap. Besides, the gas station is only 2 miles down the road.
I had a Tundra before the F150's and it didn't have any issue starting while on my driveway with the tank near empty.

Not sure about the 17's but at least with my Tremor Ford's calculations vary and are always off by at least a gallon.......sometimes more.......I have gotten to the station before where the display says 28-33 miles remaining and there was less than half a gallon in the tank...........ain't no EB pulling 50mpg.

You might be right about the miscalculation because I just put 2.5 gal in it. Truck started right up and computer now shows 34 miles to empty

Hate to say it, but in this case, it actually is an engine issue. The HPFP is driven by the camshaft on the cylinder head. The EB uses two fuel pumps, one in the tank, and one in the head. It is very similar to diesel engines that have a lift pump and injection pump. The first delivers fuel to the pump from the tank, the second boosts the pressure needed to be injected into a high compression cylinder.

It's rare that the pump goes out, but it can happen. This is the first one I hear of going bad though.

Well I hope this is the actual issue. Have to wait for parts to come it. The engine had a noticeable tick/ knock on passenger side front in wheel well. Poor performance and poor fuel mileage. No codes. I thought it was a turbo or exhaust leak?

IIRC the pump is on the passenger side in the middle of the head. Surprised you had no codes though, I would have expected an over rich condition at the very least. Next time you talk to the service, ask if they know for certain that the injectors didn't get damaged from the overly high fuel pressures.
