My 2016 I just got already has 2 USB ports with blue lights around them. Are you saying that the USB hub that works with CarPlay has blue lights around the ports and the ones that don't work with CarPlay don't have blue lights around the ports?

My 2016 has 2.0 and according to ford owner website thats connected to my account, etc. my Sync software is up to date. I have no option for CarPlay and would really like to know how to get what I need to make it work. If all thats required is to change my USB hub then I'd like to figure out where to get one and do it myself. If I already have the required USB hub, then I guess theres an issue somewhere else that I need to figure out.

If your 2016 has Sync 3 Version 2.0 all you need is the updated USB hub. There is a hub with white lights that many have used with success. I believe it is for a Lincoln Navigator. The part I used is a Ford part # with blue lights and is a plug and play replacement. I got mine from Sunrise Ford Parts but any dealer can order it for you

Because it cost them money for something that all 2016s should have had ( depends on build date I’ll assume) my dealer did the software update for free after I did the hardware update at my expense. As discussed this swop out was quite ease for most. Wonder what and when the next update will be?
