Default 2015 blind spot sensor woes continue

My blind sensor problems continue. The original right sensor was water damaged from a cracked tail light and the Ford dealer was never able to get a replacement part. I found several Blindspot sensor replacements from parts, dealers, Amazon, and China, and on the fourth attempt finally found one that the dealer said was able to accept programming. Along the way, the dealer found that a big wiring harness under the bed of the truck that connected to the sensor was bad and it had to be replaced. After they replaced that wiring harness, they removed a working blindspot sensor from another customer’s 2015 F150 that was in the shop, and it worked fine on my vehicle according to the service tech.

The new sensor was installed last week, apparently accepted programming without problem, and I thought everything was great. When driving home on a four-lane road, when I was in the left lane, I noticed that the sensor was indicating a car was in my blind spot about 65% of the time, despite nothing being there. Today I noticed that when I turn the right blinker on, the yellow light in the right rearview mirror blinks in cadence with the flasher on the dash. To say that this whole matter has been as frustrating as expensive is an understatement.

On the last attempt to get this fixed, I ordered two Blindspot sensors with the idea of returning one or both if they didn’t work. It turns out now that both sensors are outside of the return date. Does anybody know if that sensor has to be calibrated to a specific vehicle or is it just some electronic info that needs to be input so it will function? Fortunately, I have not had any other error signals rising from this problem, but I am holding my breath about these gremlins migrating to other systems. I’ll get the dealer to try to get the 4th sensor working.

Even if I never get this problem fully solved at least now I don’t have to hit a button 3 times every time after starting the truck to clear the error messages.
