Default 2014 Timing Chain Issue

I have a 2014 F-150 Platinum. 124k miles and still gorgeous! I have never changed the timing chain or any belts. 6.2 liter V8 engine:
  • When should the timing chain or belts be changed?
  • How much should I expect to pay?
My mechanic shop is telling me $2100!!! Says it involves 8 hours labor and a $450 part.

What say all of you??

As long as you keep up on oil changes, you shouldn’t have to change chains at all.

If they do get some stretch beyond the computer’s ability to adjust, you’ll get codes saying as much.

I have been "religious" in my oil changes and air filters. So all I have to do is go to O'Reily's and have them hook the computer up, then check for codes?

Default What about belts?

When should I change the belts in the 6.2l V-8? Can an auto parts store take a look before I ask a repair shop? I guess I should bite my ego and admit that I don't know if my chariot has a belt or a chain!

Are you 16??

If the timing chain needs work you'll get a check engine light.

Obviously you aren't at all mechanimechanically inclined. Just from reading your posts..

Get off the internet and go look under the hood, then go find the owners manual and read.. after that Try this amazing thing called Google.

Hands on experience is needed to actually learn.

Good luck !!
