Regardless the dark car feature has 0 effect on the horn, only lighting is affected.

Since I've had the truck the gauge lights are always on when the truck is running. Bright during daytime and they dim when the autolamp kicks in when it is dark enough.

See attached picture with headlight position. (This is in the middle of the night while truck is running)
Ok I didn't know you meant while the truck is running.

Interesting info, makes sense for the stakeouts and night time urban incursions.

I wasn't aware ours needed special tools to be disabled........aren't modern cars great ?

If the "dark car" mode doesn't disable the dash lights i doubt i'll go to the trouble of doing it. I don't really mind the car lighting up when i unlock/exit it or anything. By dash lights i also mean the gauge lights btw. It'd be nice if the ambient sensor would automatically dial the gauge/dash lights down if they're going to stay on at night with the headlights off.

sorry don't want to be completely OT but I saw that the IDS tool is mentioned for controlling lighting situation such as police dark car; any chance the same IDS can be used to activate DRLs?

nvm; just looked at the IDS info on their website... very complex/costly system... will just have to find someone with it.

If you're near the greater New Orleans area, I have IDS and I give deeply discounted prices for programming for forum members.
