I see the website has the new 2014 you can BUILD and PRICE and now there are several RED colors. Any one have any insight on the RUBY RED? Is it metallic? It looks the be the darkest of the bunch. How is it in relation to the Vermillion Red from 2013? Anyone know?

They came out with Ruby Red on the 13 models. Sunset is a new red that I'd like to see.

 

As the above poster said, ruby red came out for the '13 models. And is a 3 stage pearl/candy paint. Much like lava red pearl, red candy tinted tri-coat, of the previous 09+ years.

Vermillion red and race red are solid reds. No metallic or pearl. My truck is vermilion...

 

The extra cost for the Ruby Red was well worth it in my opinion. It changes hues depending on the lighting. Race Red is a brighter red with a bit of an orange hue at times. Or that may just be my old eyes.

Ruby Red is a nice color. I almost wish I had gotten it, but the Sterling Gray is nice too. Kodiak Brown is a cool color -- esp on a King Ranch. Sunset is a new color for 14 that I am interested in seeing.

 

I've seen the Sunset on a '14 Escape. It's a nice looking color, and looks good in the sun. Reminds me what used to be called "burnt orange".

 

IMO, It has a much heavier red tone in it than a "Burnt Orange". I may be splitting hairs, this is the internet after all. Its almost like they sprayed red candy over a Burnt Orange base coat. I can see where you make that relation, but it still is very red to my eyes. I saw it on a new Fusion when I was at the dealer the other day test driving a Focus ST. Its not a bad color, but it feels very "old" to me. I am a huge fan of Burnt Orange, but the Sunset color is just bleh.

 

Ruby Red Metallic is the best color ever for a truck, IMO (2013+)
