Default 2011 FX2 - Looking for a rolling bed cover

Just got a 2011 FX2 Supercab (5.0 L) this past weekend. I'm also a new member - 1st post.

I need to get a locking rolling bed cover and know nothing about them.

Does anyone have any experience with them such as:

1. Are they water proof?

2. Are they secure?

3. Are they easy to install your self?

4. Does anyone know a ball park cost (Electric operation). Am I looking at $500... $2,000? No clue.

5. The "box" that the rolling cover retracts into - is it very big? I have an ATV that will be sitting in the bed and I want to know how much space that takes.

Any advise is appreciated.

First of all welcome! I'm actually in the process of looking myself. There's a real nice low profile rolling cover called the rollbak g2 I'll be going with. Made with high grade aluminum supports up to 400 pounds, can be rolled and locked in multiple positions. I believe the container that houses the slats sticks out about a foot or so. Saw a site that's selling them for around 650 bucks usually over a grand. Nice clean look to it and very easy to install, even a install video online. Check it out

Thanks for the welcome.

I was a mysporttrac.com member for around 4 years and they were GREAT. Traded the Sport Trac in for the F150.

Found the site - looks like it's $989.96 FREE shipping.

www.rolltopcover.com box it retracts to is 11 inches square i think. Lockable in any position. Best one ive seen, however I havnt seen the one that other guy mentioned.

I traded my sport trac on an f150 too, haha! Kinda miss it though, but needed the bigger truck.

There are several options at this site - bakliner.com.

They have a flip top as well - like the Sporttrac (4 sections) that's kinda nice too.

I miss the HELL out of my Sporttrac but this new 5.0 L, FX2 is sooooo much better. Just have to get used to the bigger size. I needed a bigger truck too. The Sporttrac (V8) just wasn't doing it any more. I have a 25' toy hauler camper that carries two ATVs. Total tow weight is around 7,600 pounds.

Thanks for the advice folks - I'll keep looking around.

Keep these coming!

if thats the bakflip youre talking about there is a thread comparing it to the extang solid fold and most people seem to agree that the extang is better than the bakflip. I wish they had one that was like the sport trac that also opened from the front, i used that all the time and my f150 has the side steps so I opted for a truxedo duece soft cover that does open from the front, would rather have a hard cover though, but so far I havent had any problems and it barely leaks at all when going through a car wash and have never had it leak in rain, mostly around the tailgate from the underbody wash it seems. i dont have the tailgate seal installed yet, waiting for it to warm up so the tape will stick, haha!

Looking at the roll tops more closely, I realize that they won't work for me.

I'll need the full width of the bed to get the ATV inside. The side rails look like they protrude about 3" per side to accommodate for the roll top to slide within. That won't work for me.

I really REALLY need one that locks and is waterproof.

Looks like the flip top may be a better choice.

Still looking...
