2011 Ecoboost FX4
This is my first thread. I just got my 2011 Ecoboost FX4 and I love it. There is only one problem... I am getting 13-14 mpg In city. I am driving conservable and not " hot rodding" around. Any help would be great.
I just got my truck this week and so far I am consistently getting 22-24 mpg on the commute into work, 30 miles each way, all highway.Every vehicle I've owned recently gets crummy city mileage. The 07 Edge I traded in got around 15 - 16 around town, my Mazda 3 that gets 28 - 30 on the highway, gets 17-18 around town.
I think once your engine is broken in you might get to 15 or so around town but I wouldn't expect much better than that.

my truck (ecoboost fx4) gets 16mpg in the city, and that was once I learned how to drive it so to speak. small (like really small) adjustments in throttle input make a big impact on mileage. It's about what it's supposed to get in the city so i'm fine with that, better than my chevy and MUCH heavier.
out on the highway with the cruise set doing 70mph 19-20mpg is the norm
I love this truck and engine, amazes me everytime I drive it.

Play the green bar game with the Fuel Economy setting on your dash readout. You will learn a lot about how your are driving. I have changed the way I take off from starts and I have also learned that if you leave your truck running and run in the house or for whatever reason it kills your mileage.
I have had my FX4 EcoScrew for about a month and a half and I am usually in the 18-19 mpg range with town and highway mixed driving. That is if I am not play around. I have a co worker that has a 2010 FX4 with the 5.4 and he knows better but has to test me about once a week. ; ) He better get a chip and a tune if he wants to say in the game.

I use the Trip A and B mode to monitor mileage. The green bar is nice but I've found it to not be super accurate and it has a tendency to hurt your feelings. I have never reset my Trip A so that one gives me an idea of the liftetime mileage of the truck. I reset Trip B everytime I fill up. That gives me an idea of more recent mileage. Before I reset this, I also manually calculate the mileage (miles drive/gallons to fill up=MPG) and the result is usually within .2 mpg of what the vehicle calculated.
To answer your original post, I am getting 15-16 around town and 20-21 on the highway as advertised. If you're doing more city driving, the average is going to hurt your feelings...trust me. If you want to feel better, get on the highway and reset the green bar MPG display and watch it jump up to 24-28 MPG with CC on and on a flat grade.
