Default 2010 XLT without coded keyless entry?

I just realized that my 'new to me' 2010 XLT doesn't have the push buttons to enter a keyless entry code on the drivers door. I would have thought this was standard with all the other options the XLT has?

I had this feature on an older Taurus I used to own and I loved it! You could leave your keys locked in the car at the amusement park or what ever and still get in with the code at the end of the day!

I think the keyless entry was an option on the XLT up to 2013 and is now standard. You can buy an aftermarket that I hear works fine.

I got an aftermarket one off ebay, I think it was around $70. It's wireless and you can stick it anywhere. I chose a discreet spot below rear window . Problem is it's battery operated and it's not possible to change the battery, so when it dies it's useless! Didn't find that out til after I bought it.

If I were to buy a driver's side door handle with keypad from Ford, can it be used with my truck? I do have keyless entry but no current keypad.

I put one of the Ford "stick-on" ones on the 2012 STX, which works fine. However, my preference would be in the door handle. When I had the door panels off, to work on the mirrors, I was going to check, to see if the plug was there, but forgot.

The batteries in the "stick on" are supposed to last 11 years or some such ... probably, as long as a fob.

Yes, if someone can confirm that the harness is in the door for the keypad...I might buy one and give it a try!

Why not take your door panel off and have a look for yourself.

Speaking of stick-ons...is there any reason this older wireless keypad wouldn't work with newer vehicles?

That's the one, which I put on the 2012 STX. I'd suspect, they'd work on any Ford vehicle with key less entry/auto-locks and key fobs.

Add: I will mention one thing, which isn't high lighted in the instructions of programing: All doors, have to be unlocked at the commencement of programing. It's best to use the unlock button on the driver's door.

It looks a hell of a lot better than the current model Ford Sells! Still some to be had on Amazon and Ebay...I'd just like to know that it works on my 2010 before I drop $75.
