Default 2010 F150 XLT Basic Questions

Hey all,

New to the forum and new to F150's. Just bought a certified used 2010 F150 XLT SuperCrew, 4.6L 3v V8 31k miles. Love the truck but I just had some questions I was hoping yall could help out with.

I attached an image of the window sticker for details in case I dont give the enough info out.

So here are my questions and thanks in advance for any advice:
1. This truck has the 17in alluminum rims and the tires are P235 70R17 All Season Tires. Is it possible to put a slightly larger tire (width or height) on these rims. Im not looking for offroad tire size, but something that grips a little better when driving on my 3 acres in the grass..the current tires seem a bit narrow and slip a bit. Any suggestions on size or anything like that would be great.
2. I dont have the receiver hitch on this truck (sadly), but its not really necessary at this point as i dont have any big things to tow. Occasionally I plan on borrowing my dads 20ft boat to tow it a short distance to the docks. So the question here is this. Will the hitch that is mounted on the bumper be sufficient for this? Should I install a receiver hitch on the truck, and if so, does anyone have any recommendations? Again not looking to tow super heavy loads, I know im somewhat limits with a 3.31 axle ratio.

Does having a receiver hitch increase the towable trailer weight?

3. The window sticker on this thing says 6800# GVWR package - i bel9ieve thats the max the truck is able to hold in payload, im guessing based on the suspension setup for this truck this is the limit...but does this relate to the towing ability?

Sorry for the drawn out quetsions just want to make sure I operate this truck within its means.

Thanks again for any help yall got.

Marko

In order to tow 6800 you will need to install a hitch. I do not know how much a ball on the bumper tows but in order to tow a boat you would want a hitch. I don't really know why people put ***** on a bumper anymore honestly. Most things you tow with a truck require a hitch now anyway.

The bumper is good for about 500lbs tounge weight. But I wouldn't put anything more then a yard trailer on here. Plus it scratches the **** out of it

If you plan on towing the boat you will need a hitch.

Thanks all for the responses on the reliever hitch. So would a class IV receiver hitch be the most practical? Also, any pros/cons to getting aftermarket vs OEM?

Most towing packages that are aftermarket are straight bolt on. They are just the same as oem. Just a hell of alot cheaper. I installed one on mine and pull a enclosed trailer with it.
