Default 2010 Completely Dead

Walk out of the grocery store this afternoon and unlock my truck with the key fob. Automatic running boards come down when I open the back driver side door to put the groceries in it. Shut the door. Get into the driver seat, put the key in, and it is like the entire truck is dead. Only thing that lights up is the air bag symbol on the panel. Fob doesn't work now, no radio, lights, running boards don't work, no electronic locks, etc.

Any clues?

I don't mean to be captain obvious, but I would check the battery first.

Headed back with tools and jumper cables to see if that is what it is, but just a quick look showed pretty clean, good tight connections, no lose wires, no corrosion, battery didn't seem hot.

Let us know how it goes, but just because its clean doesn't mean it's not dead. If its OE battery it is probably towards the end of life anyways.

Yep a 2010 means the battery may be from 2009. Thats pretty average for a OE battery.

Yep - battery. Tried to jump it with a buddies F150 and just wouldn't crank. So off to find a battery. Bad part only place open at that time was Walmart - so not sure how long I will get out of this one. Replaced it and cleaned up the cables a bit - turned right over.

Never had a battery just die like that. Thanks for feedback!

All I buy is Everstart MAXX batteries from Wal-Mart. I have always had good results with them. Glad it was something easy!

Johnson Controls makes both the Motorcraft (oem) and Everstart batteries that wally world sells.

My oem battery fizzled out after only a year, the ww battery is still kicking after 2 years. With batteries it's a crap shoot.
