Default 2004 5.4 litre intermittent 0307 code ,0316 code and check engine light.

Hi folks, wondering if anyone has experienced a misfire code that reoccurs. When it first happened I immediately changed the coil pack on the number 7 cylinder and the truck ran beautiful. I figured I was all set. .. wrong it has re occurred on several occasions. At first I removed the new coil and reinstalled it , erased the code and I was whistling. A few days later the 0307 and 0316 code reappeared and the engine was mis firing again. there's 175000 on it and I must say when it is running properly it is as smooth as silk, aside from upper end ticking it runs like new. Today the engine was idling rough and boom on came the light. I hooked up my code reader and the same codes appeared. I erased the codes and when I restarted the engine it was smooth as silk. A short while later the rough idle returned but hasn't thrown the check engine light on yet. I' m thinking electronic control module but have no clue. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this type of issue and what the cure might be. I had this issue on my 4.2 jaguar v8 I replaced the coil and the problem was solved. Which is why i immediately changed the coil on the truck. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Steve the plumber

HINT/TIP: You may find posting in the
Late Model F150s > 2004 - 2008 Ford F150
section more helpful/appropriate than General F150 Discussion posts.

And consider Google [ ford 2004 f150 5.4 p0307 p0316 ] for SEVERAL hits.

Check your plugs, they probably need replacement.
