Default 2004 3vale at wits end

I don't know what else to do. I have changed the cam phazers on my truck and since then the thing runs like ***. Wants to stall at stop and makes a horrible knocking noise kind of like a dieseling noise on an old motor. New timing chains(checked the timing twice), Ford told me the low idle and stalling was the throttle body. changed it. didn't change a thing. also I have put new cam sensors in too. The error i am getting is timing advanced on bank one. I do have to put new cats on. one has both punched out the other has one punched out. don't know it this has anything to do with it. the cats are coming this week. please, any suggestions would be great. come on ford guys/girls. I'm ready to put on a helmet and put it into a tree.

codes: p0011 cam position timing aver advanced bank 1
p0345 cmp sensor A circuit bank 2

I feel for you.... but with those codes I still think you are not in time on bank 1 it takes for you to be off one tooth for this to run like poop. let me ask you why did you change your phazers, for noise or for a check engine light?
also what bank is the cat on that is not punched, a quick check break that cat loose at the manifold see how it runs. The only real way to check if it is a phazer concern or timing concern the dealership can use (IDS) scan tool and can monitor the phazers to see how responding they should be inline with each other if bank one is not your problem is that it is not timed correctly or(possibly) a stuck vct solinoid... small chance

hope this helps

A P0011 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:
  • Incorrect camshaft timing
  • Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control solenoid system
  • Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber
  • Failed timing valve control solenoid (stuck open)
Camshaft advance mechanism binding, or faulty VCT unit

A code P0345 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
Symptoms can include:
  • Hard starting or no start
  • Rough running / misfiring
  • Loss of power
  • a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
  • the camshaft position sensor may have failed
  • the PCM may have failed
  • there exists an open circuit
  • the position sensor may have failed
I am hoping it is just a bad sensor, good luck keep up updated

I reset the timing again and had my mechanic friend who owns the shop varify it for me also. its right on on both sides. as for the cat, one of the two in not punched out on that side.. I forgot if I have the rpms up and boot it it runs pretty well. don't know if that helps at all. I think I'm gonna check the maf sensor and clean that even though I don't have a code there. can't hurt to clean it anyway. the other thing is I just put both cam sensors in new. Bank 1 monday and bank two last week. what are the chances that they are bad? Thanks
Dave

Have you checked the VCT solenoid? If that thing isn't working right or stuck it could cause that side to be advanced or retarded and set that code. I wonder if the bank 1 and bank 2 solenoids are interchangeable? Might try swapping them if they are and see if the code follows the solenoid.

ok I tried the new vct and it did nothing. I also put a new crank sensor in. nothing changed. when i left the shop today I unpluged both of the cam sensors and nothing changed there either. I wonder if the computer is not reading the sensors or the vcts. ?????
