Default 2000 thinks key is always in?

I bought a 2000 f150 XLT 4x4 on Friday. It worked when I bought it. Brought it home. Detailed it, cleaned it up. Now, the truck chimes all the time when I open the driver door, the radio only turns on in park. The radio shuts off when I put it in drive. And the windows don't always work. The radio will turn on even if there is no key in the ignition. And for some reason, the horn would randomly honk for periods of 30 seconds or longer. I disconnected the battery and the horn stopped randomly honking the next day. The radio issue is still in play. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I’m kind of stumped. I have been driving a jeep for the last 10 years and recently came back to the world of F150s.

Bet you it's the GEM module going out. There are many posts on the subject. Also, if your windshield leaks, it will fry the module.

Agreed. These trucks were quite notorious for that due to a leaky lower windshield.

I took a can of electrical cleaner and hit my ignition switch hard with it. Sprayed behind the cruise control buttons, and and any crack or crevice i could get the cleaner in. I also hit the fuse panel/GEM best i could.

No issues for the last 24 hours.
