Default 2000 5.4 engine Replacement

Hi guys,

I just bought a 2000 f150, with a bad 5.4L. I guess one of the rods bent, so now its time to replace the engine. Is there a Thread on an engine install around here? Or if you could point me in the right direction on what needs to come off of the front body, and if you need to lift the cab of the truck. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I thought you meant Blown as in supercharged. Um. We don't have an engine repair thread specifically but just post it in the section in which your truck year corresponds and I'm sure people could help you out.

In a nut shell; Disconnect battery and engine harnesses. Remove hood. Remove starter. Disconnect exhaust manifold. Remove intake manifold. Install engine lifting device. Remove radiator. Unbolt AC compressor and set aside. Unbolt power steering and set aside. Unbolt engine from transmission. Unbolt Torque converter if automatic. Disconnect clutch hydraulic line if manual. Unbolt engine mounts. Lift engine. I would strongly suggest the purchase of a shop manual. It will give complete instructions in the correct order with any warnings that may be required. While some individuals use a floor jack under the transmission to hold it up, if you do not have one your truck jack can serve in a pinch. I sometimes use ratcheting straps attached between the frame rails.
