Default 20”s

Would I have to do anything to my 2011 F150 to put factory fx4 20” wheels and tires on. My truck has 17” now. ?

Nope, as the wheel gets bigger the tire height gets smaller. More wheel and less rubber on the side.

It all depends on the overall diameter of the new tire and not the size of the rim. Any difference of 1" either way, I would calibrate the speedometer.

Make sure the wheels are the same diameter, or close.

This is a neat calculator for changing rim sizes. Tells you what tires you need on your new rims to keep the same wheel diameter.

Originally went with 275/55x20s.
Was satisfied and had no issues, however, when they wore-out opted to upgrade to 305/50x20s

Nice ride gDMJoe, are those oe or aftermarket wheels? They look great. I’m getting a fx4 oe 275/55x20 wheels and tires and hope they look as good as yours.

The rims were available from Ford Racing Performance Parts beginning in 2008 thru early 2010. There were 4 versions
  • 20"x8½" - polished painted silver
  • 20"x10" - polished painted silver

*Though only the 20"x10" polished were available in early 2010. Their original intention was to be the rims on the 2009 Lightnings (which were never built).
**All versions became -OBSOLETE- in mid'2010.
There was another version that was only available on the 2008 FX2 Sport.
  • 20"x8½"
  • centers painted black chrome with a polished edge.
  • have also been -OBSOLETE- since 2010, though there are still 12 sets of center caps in a MO FoMoCo dealership - part # 8L3Z-1130-B (each)

What advantage is going to 20" from 17", other than possibly looks?

Amoung other things, handling.

e.g. Try to find a 50series profile tire in 17" with (say) a F-150 load, and performance speed rating.
