Explain how Ford or anyone for that matter would know if anyone checked the dipstick? Most people buy a vehicle to go from point A to B, if it runs we drive it, when it won't run is when we call AAA or other.

Buying a new or used vehicle for that matter does not require the owner to know how to do anything other than put gas in and drive it.

To insinuate more is absurd. Some people don't know how to water plants, is it their fault for it dying or their fault for not hiring a horticulturist to keep it alive?

Not when its covered under warranty. I would have drove it there as well. Not sure if a warranty pays for cost of towing a defective engine to the dealership.

Considering the 2.7L has to sit for at least 15 minutes to get an accurate oil level reading, it was probably low but not out.

Being a 2016 the truck should be under warranty which means Ford will tow it for free. You just need to call the emergency road service in the owners packet.

The good news is that you are getting a new engine. Here is to hoping the dealer does an accurate swap out and in!

Default Happy New Year.

Checked the dipstick, full and clean (Ford just did the oil pan gasket under warranty). Started it again. Oil pressure seemed normal (little better than half the gauge), so I attempted to go forward. Light came on again and the gauge dropped. Roadside took an hour to respond to the email message they direct you to. Luckily a fellow f150 owner helped me tow the truck to a gravel road off to the side and gave me a lift to our shop. Roadside advised it would be 12 hours for them to pick up my vehicle. This ended up being 18, only after calling to complain. From what I hear, AMA (AAA in Canada) is worth it, but I had assumed that roadside would be the same on a two year old truck. Won't make that mistake again. Was advised today that they'll be replacing the engine and Turbos under Powertrain warranty, as well as the battery, which won't be covered, which had frozen so bad in the cold it could not be charged. Have to say I'm glad this wasn't in the Rogers Pass or someplace out of cell range...the truck has had a steady diet of Mobil 1 every 8000 -10000 km, aside from when the pan gasket was done, because I do a lot of gravel and it can get bloody cold here.

It's amazing how many people don't read their manuals. There's this thing called roadside assistance. It's part of the new vehicle warranty. Ford handles it...you shouldn't.

You should NEVER drive a truck that has oil pressure warnings and nothing showing on the dipstick. That's a fundamental rule that kids are taught at 16. C'mon guys....
