Default 2.7 oil pressure loss and new engine.

Hi all,

First wanted to thank everyone, this forum is awesome and I've learned a ton.

So, I've got a 2016 2.7. Less than 5K miles. I was getting on the interstate this morning. A warning light concerning oil pressure goes off. I exit immediately, stopped and checked the oil and the dip stick was dry...

Went directly to dealer, oil pressure read normal on the way. Got there, an within the hour was told I'm getting a new engine and was issued a loaner rental truck.

Does anyone have a similar experience or is there a known issue with the 2.7's?

Thanks in advance for any info.

The link doesn't work but I believe it is meant to point to TSB 17-0007. This documented problems with 2016 F-150's 2.7L engines built between 04/01/2016 and 10/01/2016.

According to some, only bad things show up on a forum. Otherwise, it didn't happen.

So your oil pressure gauge dropped, you exited and pulled over, checked the dipstick and showed no oil.... and then you drove to the dealership?

I would have done the same thing, these trucks are really difficult to push.

You would have driven a truck that showed no oil on the dipstick? Ford could have said that you have contributed to the problem & laid blame for damage on you. AAA is a pretty good service for the price.
