Default 1991 F150 MPG better than 2012?

Although I haven't found a 1991 window sticker, I've been riding around in a 2012 5.0 quite a bit lately and I was wondering about the MPG. In average city driving, its getting 14-16 MPG, practically the same as my 91. On the highway, both are dead even at 17 MPG. And my 91s A/C is actually colder. Power goes to the 2012 by a longshot, but both haul well.

Why hasn't the mileage improved? My 300 I6 is an antique and still runs with the newest motors- sort of disappointed in Ford I guess.

Perhaps I'll try a Ranger. I want 25+ MPG LOL.

Here's some pics of the Box. It replaced my 2008 because life happens and two car payments suck on an E-4's salary.

Maybe a 4 cylinder 2wd Ranger?? But, I doubt you'll get 25 mpg's with a 6 cylinder Ranger.

Actually, I'm quite impressed. The new 5.0 makes nearly 200 more HP and gets the same MPG's as your old I6. Actually it should get more. That new 5.0 that you've been riding around in should get 20 on the highway not 17.

Eep...I might get a small car then.
The 5.0 is a friends, and its driven hard. Do these things "learn" your driving habits?
