Default 10r80 back order wait

My 2017 f150 3.5 EB needs a new tranny and is at the Ford dealer. They have no idea when they will be able to find one or how long the back order is. Anyone else running into the same issue? What did your dealers say?

Curious what issues you had? Mine is on a call back list for "rebuild". They estimated 3 weeks to bring it back in. And as much as 2-3 weeks after they have it. I have heard all kinds of things like "they don't rebuild them" to "some dealerships do and some don't" . Is your truck totally out of commission?

Mine would randomly slam down into first gear from 4th or 6th sometimes. Had the valve body replaced and did the same thing 200 miles later. Brought it in and they said I need the whole thing replaced. To be honest I don’t know if it’s a case of we don’t want to touch the internals of this thing on a rebuild bc they are so complicated, we just wanna unbolt the old and bolt the new in and put fluid in it and send her down the road. Regardless I haven’t even heard how long the wait is for a “remanufactured” transmission.

Is your truck still under warranty? If not, you could take it to a transmission shop.

I dont know of, or have ever heard of a dealership that rebuilds transmissions. They remove and replace. A transmission rebuild is more of a specialty and thats why there are shops that only do that.

not under warranty. Just over 60k miles. Ford is helping with repair cost due to mileage being where it is. 3 year unlimited mileage warranty from ford with the replacement. Wasn’t looking for a rebuild so I wasn’t going to bring it to a tranny shop.

Update: Without a truck for 2 months. 60 days it will take for Ford to receive the remanufactured transmission. No loaner. What a joke

I've been without my 2018 F-150 for about a month now. I'm being told by the dealership that the ETA is another 9-12 weeks. No loaner.
