Default 10 Speed?

A friend told me he heard in 2017 model f150's, a 10 speed transmission will be available that will have a 32mpg rating with the 2.7 engine?
Anyone heard of this?

So if it will be 32 mpg on the sticker then we will get 24mpg. Lol. I hope that is true because that sounds great to me.

A few years ago Ford and GM were working together on developing a 10 speed so I'd think it's in the future for sure.

I heard about the 10 speed transmission, but I didn't hear about the 2.7 being rated for 32 mpg.

Ford and GM collaborated on a FWD 9-speed and a RWD 10-speed.

Ford took the lead on the 10-speed hardware. GM took the lead on the 9-speed hardware. Each company is responsible for their own software programing and testing. I know the 10 speed is in testing trials, no recent info on the 9-speed.

Maybe they ought to perfect the 6 speeds first!

It's a gimmick. The current 8 speeds get the same fuel economy the 4 speeds did when we were kids. The small improvements are due to aero and engine efficiency improvements. A 10 speed won't help anything...but it'll cost a fortune.
