Default We changed the IWE check valve
The grinding noise was driving me nuts. The IWE check valve replacement seems to have solved it.

Changed oil and filters. Motorcraft synthetic blend and Motorcraft oil filter every 5k air filter every 10k. Got my '04 5.4 3v to 290k before I sold her, should get my '14 5.0 there as well.

Replaced the original starter. 132,xxx miles and 8 years old not too bad. That top bolt was a MF’er. Short handle ratchet was the answer.
