My 02 SD was horrible 5.4Triton. I don't think I got 10-11 city. But it seems the 6.2L is not much better. I don't expect prius fuel econ but wanted to see if the newer SD's gas improved from my 5.4.
I always find it so hard to see what people actually get for mileage because everyone feels the urge to bend the truth a little, knowingly or not. I'm having a hard time making up my mind, I am open to a diesel but $10,000 pays for a lot of gas.

No way for me on the diesel. The maintenance costs are much higher than gas. Plus even around here diesel is even more expensive than 87. Plus the added 10k,, not worth it for me. I tow a boat year round and the gas can handle that just lower MPG's. I got a 1/2 ton that gives me 16 city and around 12 towing. Based on various answers it seems the Super Duty is gonna get 12-13 city and 15-16 highway..and even worse 9-10 towing..oh well, it is what it is..

I have a 2013 F250 6.2L purchased in July of this year. On average driving around Atlanta I get 13 to 13.5 mpg. I drove it to Orlando (non towing) and was getting anywhere from 15 to 16 mpg, thought that was decent. With the gas tank was able to go a long ways on one tank. Towing the camper we have we averaged around 10 mpg.

Not fudging the numbers, we let the truck keep track of the mileage as well as wife keeping up with it manually for a bit.

Hope this helps, I love my truck

Just unloaded my 12 F150 for a F250 4x4 crew with the 6.2L. That was my first half ton truck always had 3/4 or ton and I assure you I'll never go back. The 6.2 is getting around 16 MPG keeping it just under 70 and around 13 running around town. I'm overly happy with my new SD.

You an I share the same thought. I am jealous right now. I am looking at trading in my 13 F150 for a 14 F250 SD CC 4x4 6.2L. F150 are nice trucks but I like the SD a little more. I miss my old SD. All you give up on the F150 is fuel mileage. If I can get 13 and 16 I can live with that..Thanks for your input and enjoy your SD.

Believe me I'm already enjoying it and being in a full truck again is amazing. I agree the F150 is a nice truck but it wasn't for me. In reference to loosing fuel mileage between the two it is definitely worth it to me for what I've gained. I got extremely lucky on mine when trading it in. I purchased my F150 Dec 8th 2012 for $30,065 out the door and got $29,000 on trade with 26,000 miles on it. Completely happy is an understatement.

Stop rubbing it in!! Nice trade in you lucky dog. I bought my 13 on 12/19/12, I hope to get a good number on mine. I plan on going next week to take test drive on the new 14 SD. Glad you happy with your SD. I think I can live w/o fuel mileage to get back into a bigger more solid truck. I just hope the 6.2 holds up as well as my ole 5.4 Triton did.

Well I can't promise this will work in your area but I did a lot of research before I traded. I decided to stay within a 125 mile radius (approximately 2 hr drive) and studied those markets. I researched how many F150's were in that radius, where the majority were and which are had the least mount with the highest price. I spent a couple days verifying my research and found my trade in offers ranged from $22,000 to $29,000 so it pays to research. I ended up driving 2 hrs to the dealership I purchased my SD from and it was well worth the trip. Good luck on your hunt.

Thanks, I have zeroed in on he exact truck I want and who has it. There offering me $40k for my trade. There truck is $46,900. I got $2200 in funds to deposit. So it will come down to about $5-7k to close the deal. I just am deciding on whether to finance the diff or pay cash and be done. This is terrible, when you get the bug to buy you spend all your time researching and analyzing the numbers/specs/truck options. If it is meant to be I will be in new truck in next 2 weeks. Assuming this crappy weather gets dry soon..
