Default Question on Clearance Lights

Is there any laws or regulations on what color the clearance lights can or have to be? I have clear covers for my lights and have some white led's in there but I found these color changing led's for cheap I was wondering if I would have any issue with them changing colors. They dont flash they slowly morph between colors and its like 7 colors so it couldn't be confused with civil services.

The feds set up the requirement for the lights. But I doubt you would have much trouble changing to like white.

BUT, if those 7 colors include red or blue, nope, you don't want to do that.

While we're at it; are clearance lights only required for width in some states? That would seem to drive why they are included on DRW applications, but optional on SRW models. But now that I think about it; what does width have to do with lights on your roof (aka height)?

Clearance lights are required on vehicles over 80 inches wide. Bet you were wondering why SRW's are 79.9 inches wide. LOL

Thus clearance lights (2 outboard lights on the cab, plus others) are required on DRW's.

I am not sure the 3 cab identification inboard lights are actually required. But I think the vehicle company's felt it would look goofy without them.
