Default No start 7.3

Hey guys I JUST finished the install of my 7.3 engine. It started and I drove it around after a couple of hours of trying to getter going. I left it for like 30 minutes and now went to start it again and it's a loud noise. So I took off the flywheel cover and looked at the starter and fly wheel. The fly wheel teeth looked ok and the starter is engaging but is not connecting to the flywheel? Do I have to replace my starter or flywheel?

Sounds like you broke the starter drive. Have some one try to start it while you watch the starter drive to engage the gear. Don't touch it as it hurts. U will need to remove the starter to remove the starter drive.

The gear that connects to the flywheel IS coming out of the starter but is not connecting to the flywheel

I take it the starter isn't loose, than if the gear can't make it to the ring gear engaged area the bendix is broken arm on the lever possibly. Try turning the ring gear on the flywheel a dozen teeth with a pry bar and see if it engages.
