Quick question for you 6.2 / 6.7 guys. First and foremost, would you buy your truck over again? Any issues that would make you rethink your decision? Would you have rathered got the other engine? I currently have a '06 6.0 KR and I'm looking to get rid of it for something new and nicer. I'm not sure if I want to upgrade to the 2011-16 Superduty or if I want to go to a 2011-14 F-150. I don't need a diesel and truth be told I really don't even need a truck but I just like to drive trucks. Also just out of curiosity, what kind of fuel mileage are you guys getting? Any mods that are affecting you mileage?
Yes, I would buy it over again, it's a nice truck and capable of anything I throw at it. The towing power is awesome.
No, I would not have rather got the other (gas) engine. The price I got my pickup for was good and I can expect it to last for a long time. Also, from what I hear, people that get the diesel either want or need a diesel. The gas is just not an option for them.
If you're gonna upgrade, I hear the 2011's had some valve issues that needed fixed. The 2015 was the pinnacle of the group when they upgraded the turbo for better exhaust braking. In 2017 they went to aluminum body, so there's that.
I'm getting about 13/18 MPG (city/hwy) on my stock 2015. When I towed a 9k lb 5th wheel, I got about 10 MPG.
People who have deleted the DPF and blocked off the EGR report getting above 20 MPG.
I would buy my 2016 6.7 again but I would get a long bed instead of a shortbed. Would also probably go ahead and get a dually but that's more specific for my uses. I drove across NYC on interstates today and averaged right at 16 mpg with interstate, toll stops, traffic and red lights.
Yes, I have and would recommend getting a long bed if you can handle the extra length. The 172" wheelbase gets a 37.5 gallon diesel tank whereas the smaller wheelbase get only a 26 gallon tank.
That's where I'm torn. I currently have a crew cab short bed and the crew cab is awesome but the short bed is less than stellar. Also working in the city a crew cab long bed is out of the question so I think to keep price down I'd be looking at an extended cab long bed.
Mine's a crew cab long bed and I live in the city. None of the parking spots are long enough for it. Backing into a spot is easier than nosing it in. The mirrors fold in, so that's nice (and required sometimes). But certainly, you gotta drive differently... swing wide around turns, etc.
Love my 16XL, its a dually long bed CC, 6.7. Its a beast and I would not give it up for any other truck. It gets the same mileage as my 13 5.0 did, and rides pretty much the same. It does take up more room, and parking requires some skill, but I love the truck. I tow 14K empty to 18k loaded 3 to 4 weekends a month 9 to 10 months a year, so I do need a diesel.

Yeah, that 172" wheelbase and 4x4 combo is killer on the turning radius. Mine is the same way. I've got a 31' 5th wheel and I gotta have nearly double the length to back it in anywhere.
