Default Ford recalls 52,600 F-250s that can roll when in park

2017 F-250s with 6.2 liter engine, built in Louisville, KY.

FORD ISSUES SAFETY COMPLIANCE RECALL FOR CERTAIN 2017 FORD F-250 6.2-LITER VEHICLES FOR UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT WHILE IN PARK
DEARBORN, Mich., April 1, 2017 – Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety compliance recall for approximately 52,000 2017 Ford F-250 gasoline-powered 6.2-liter vehicles for unintended vehicle movement while in park. Customers are advised to use the parking brake at all times when shifting their vehicle into park to keep the vehicle stationary.

In the affected vehicles, a damaged park rod actuating plate might not achieve mechanical park within the automatic transmission after the driver moves the shift lever to park. If the parking brake is not applied, this could result in unintended vehicle movement with the gear selector in park without warning, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

Affected vehicles include certain 2017 Ford F-250 gasoline-powered 6.2-liter vehicles built at Kentucky Assembly Plant Oct. 9, 2015 to March 30, 2017.

The recall involves approximately 52,608 vehicles located in North America, including 48,421 in the United States and federalized territories, and 4,143 in Canada. The Ford reference number for this recall is 17C06.

Dealers will inspect and replace the park rod actuating plate as necessary at no cost to the customer.

The dealers recently started getting parts in and fixing the stock inventory first. I'm guessing I can get mine in by now and have it repaired.

Thanks and yes they are. The part showed up at the dealership for my truck over 2 weeks ago on a Friday and was able to pick it up that evening but opted to wait until the following Tuesday. The dealership said that only one part was sent and they are still waiting on the rest for the trucks that are sitting on the lot. So I have finally got mine in my hands and have had it for 2 weeks as of tomorrow. I was told the only thing they needed to do was drop the Transmission pan to get to the defective part to replace it. Now if that is the truth, no idea but that is what I was told.
