Unhappy broken front axel

can someone tell me how to get the spider gears out of front(2001 f-250) axel, tried the Haynes book with no luck on spider gears, part of axel is still in housing, unless someone has another idea, I`ll need to take both axel`s out and drive a bar through. thanks.

Yes, you have to remove the cross shaft and spiders. Rotate the pinion untill access is available to remove the bolt securing the spider gear cross shaft. Now remove the cross shaft, spiders and washers allowing access to the end of the axle thats in the side gears. Good luck!

found out on 2001 f-250 both axels must come out then the differential, take off ring gear and only then can you take the pin that holds the spider gears out, they sure made it hard!!
