Default 2016 F250 Backup Alarm Malfunctioning

I noticed today that when I backed up the alarm sounded continuously. But there was nothing behind me. It is about 11 degrees in Detroit and lots of snow. I checked all of the backup sensors to make sure they were clean. I'm not sure if there is any kind of sensor on the tailgate to signal if it is not closed, but I couldn't find one.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what I might have missed?

Otherwise I guess it will have to go back to the dealer for repair.

Thanks for your help,

Rick

If the sensors get iced up, that causes issues. If they aren't coated with ice, then that's not the issue.

No ice on the sensors that I can see. There are 6 of them... three on each side, right?

Well, the backup system has started working again. Maybe it was somehow weather related. Time, that great blabbermouth, will tell!

My 2013 F150 & 2015 F350 both do this periodically, in my case, it has been either ice on the sensors or water from washing them.
