Default 2016 6.7 fuel filter

Has anyone changed there's yet? I took mine to the dealer today to get the oil and changed and fuel filter. When we looked it up in the book it says it's in the tank and doesn't require changing. Has anyone else went through this?

I would have said the dealer is full of **** but according to the manual of a 2016 F250(page 244) it appears to be a lifetime filter.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard, after the issues they had with the fuel systems why would they make it not serviceable.

Me and the guy at the dealership read it together andand it just didn't seem right. But ok, the ownership of a diesel got a little cheaper.

Well until your have to replace the $5K fuel system. The 11-15s had issues with moisture destroying the system, just doesn't make since that they would make it so you can't change them. I do mechanic work as a side job and I have changed some extremely dirty fuel filters in the past.

Does it still have a water separator?

That I don't know. I'm going to do a lot more looking into the truck now that they have made some changes I didn't realize.

After some research the diesel maintenance info isn't in the standard F250 manual, you need to look at what's called a Diesel Supplement Book. It should be in the glove box with the regular manual.

6.7 has one filter mounted on the frome infront of the fuel tank, and one canister filter under the hood by the brake booster. only the gas trucks have intank fuel filters. if it is the 6.7 diesel you have i would seriously consider going to a different ford dealer in the future

I'm not going back to them. After I got home and looked over the trick and in the manual I found out he was wrong. I'm going to find a better dealer to use.

ya the 2014 and up 6.7 are almost bullet proof if you keep up with fuel filter maintenance. the 60seconds it takes to drain the seperator can make a huge impact on the life of the engine. besides a few bad oil seals and vacuum lines the new 6.7 engines are almost putting us diesel tecs out of work

I'm guessing what he read was for a gasser. those have in-tank filters. the 6.7L still has one on the driver side frame rail and one under the hood.
