Default Xlt availability to order

I’m interested in lighting xlt version. I did not have a reservation. I cannot find where to place one now. Does that mean I’m out of luck getting one any time soon? When is a realistic time frame for someone with no reservation to be able to place an order for an xlt? If it’s going to be a few years I’m going to go ahead and trade my suv for a gas truck if 6 months or so Id wait it out.

Its going to be a few years. My dealership has over 200 orders and were told they would be allocated 6 for this year.

The order book is closed for 2022. You would have to check dealer allocations to see who has allocations that are not presold. Or else you'll have to wait until the 2023 models are available for pre-order. Supposedly Ford is moving to mostly pre-order model. It's probably going to be a very long wait to supply all demand. Ford is selling out all of their production capacity and more supply chain shortages are probably in the wings, due in part to the Russian war with Ukraine.

They shut reservations at 200,000.

They are going to sell 15-20,000 2022s.

They are upping production levels to a run rate of 150,000 my middle of 2023.

2023 model year won't exceed 100,000, and may be less.

Therefore, the answer to your question is - you won't be able to order an XLT until at least the 2024 model year. You MAY be able to find one on a dealer's lot in model year 2023. For this model year, you may be able to buy a demo with a few thousand miles on it in about 6 months.

FWIW:

I am waaay down on the reservation list.

My dealer called me today and I go in tomorrow to put my order together. The only reason I won't have one in approx 4-5 months is if they try the gouge. I refuse to pay over MSRP.

On that note it's my opinion that if dealers try and get over MSRP a lot of the folks that have a reservation will pass. I'm going to say that 70-80% of the folks with a reservation will bail for that reason, meaning it may not be as long as some folks are suggesting for those down on the list or wanting to be on one. There are several other reason folks with a reservation will bail also. They are (IMO) going to available to folks without a reservation sooner than what is being projected.
