How does the Lightning handle cold?
We are leasing a 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash.
I'm still confused about preconditioning the HV battery. After a cold night, say 10 degrees F: 1) Does turning on the cabin heating do anything for the HV battery? 2) Will it warm the HV battery as it heats the cabin and/or the seats and steering wheel?
Also, does the HV battery warm up as you drive? How rapidly does this happen?
I understand that in order to warm up the battery for DC fast charging there has to be a destination set where there is a fast charger destination. Our EV6 works the same way only there is a box that needs to be checked in order for the preconditioning setting to work. I think on the Kia that box stays checked once it is selected until one de-selects it. The only reason to do this is in case the range is very low and you can't spare the preconditioning power because you need it for range.

The OP has a unicorn.
If the battery is outside, it will not warm it at all. If it's inside it would take a long time to warm that mass. Maybe you should park in a heated garage?
Our Rav4 PHEV has a cooling fan for the battery and draws in cabin air to cool it. Now it if the battery is cold, no air will be drawn in until it warms up from use.

On my 2024 ford lightning,
It requires me to set a departure time on the ford app and to leave the truck plugged in (at home, in extreme cold), it will use home power to pre-condition the truck for departure. It literally warms the battery compartment and the insides.
I've yet to see the affect of the truck left outside on a really cold night.
