Default Will I need a chip?

If I went from my stock 302 to a 351w or 302 boss, would I need to get a chip for it? All suggestions or inputs help! Thanks in advance guys!

If by 'chip' you mean the Engine Control Module then yes BUT it may not be feasible or possible.
There are many sensors and systems on that '86 EFI engine. They all have to fit the new engine. If any one sensor does not fit or function in the new engine then you may never get it running right or it will throw codes etc.

The ECM may also control other items such tach in the instrument cluster etc. May not be compatible one year to the next. There were big changes in 87+ and in 85-86 only the 302 was EFI.
