Default Where do i start: restoring an '84

I want to restore the exterior to original condition. I want to modify the 300-6yl, maybe a new valve cover and air intake? Any suggestions?

Modding the 4.9 is a lost cause, just find a V8!

Unless you're dead set on keeping that 6 and have a lot of money... V8 is cheaper to make faster

I love the V8's, but the 4.9 is bomb proof.

Few newer engines can beat the durability of the 300 I-6. Keep this one, you'll never regret it.

Keep the 6 cyliner, they are by far the best engine Ford ever produced. As far as the external part are concerned I have found three companies to recommend parts: Dennis Carpenter, National Parts Depot and LMC Truck. All of these companies sell high quality parts. I used all of them when I restored my 1986 XLT - which is still a work in progress. Take Care.

Redoing my 84' ford f150, starting with the engine components, cleaning, painting, checking and replacing everything that doesn't work. Replaced the timing chain, its a little cold out right now but I am about to rebuild the carburetor and clean it up real spiffy!

The paint and body is the last thing on my mind. If i get low on money i grab a little sand paper and some primer and start working on rust spots

Just work on it and you will find plenty of stuff to fix!

I have a friend in Michigan that has an 11.7 second et Maverick with a 400 hp 4.9 inline 6 cylinder Ford engine. Offenhauser duel 650 double pumper Holley 4V carbs.
